ABOVE 3000°
“Do you think, what is above 3000 centigrade?”
“Blue blaze, melting point of diamond, fervent state in human and orgasm climax… the only impossibility is that it cannot be the temperature of human body.’
It shows your vitality, your creativity, your initiative, your destructive force, your inertness and even the sexual capacity, or if you are sternly cool…all of which you have no way to hide. It changes according to the different times,sites and circumstances, and also it depends on yourself whether you capture it or not on the moment when it turns up to you. In a space, you also have the decision to leave or stay.
Based on this concept, we held this exhibition, and 17 artists participated in this show with their works in different mediums. We were all sure that what happening finally on the exhibiting spot reached far beyond 3000 centigrade. It even touched people who are from different countries. 27th Feb, Ash displayed the photos of our art works and the scenes of the exhibiting space in his studio of Egyptian, providing the stage of communication between us and the artists in Egypt, which extends our exhibiting space, the duration of time and the centigrade!

Shasha "Three chic boys and police" Size:120x80cm, Oil on linen, 2015 I wasdrawing on a huge canvas about things and situation happening around me, a kindof painting-like diary. Then I cut them to fit in several random frames, sothat they look 3d, even can see it from the edge, and also they can be recomposedto be other forms again. Thefigures are from a news of talking about Heiqiao art village where the localgovernor hired gangs to damage an artist’s car who refused to pay the parkingfee unless there was the official document authorized by the government. Thedrawing lines come from my experience with chinese ink painting, and the coloursare according to the way of computer color function. I want to mix those all tocreate a beautiful surface, in fact , there is the evil story happened behind, just like our simple but not easy life. |

"Voyage through time" Installation,video, Materials:heavy wooden frame, ice, blood, video, Size:45cm*55cm, 63cm*72cm, Video:HDV, 1920*1080, 10mins, 2016 The course of the work shows the meditation of Dyhana, which based on the suffering life in the world through time, single or group. The frame represents the limitation of time and space in which man exist, it also tells the certain perspective and view of how man look at the world comparatively,and also it is the way of my construct to build this work. Ice represents the natural rule which movemotionlessly forever, beyond the power of man, like uncontrolled human fate andtime. Blood symbolizes the strength of human will and the power of human desire, the fragile of life undercircumstance like tragedy. The prolonged course of the ice with blood melting is like the impression of how man struggle slowly through time, which intensify the meditation of dyhana. |
Zimmer Barnes "Trash Bin" I'm an inventor that writes down lotsof ideas. I think too often, tech designs are judged harshly as successes orfailures, and my art aims to highlight a gray area. I typed out 100 of my ideasand put them in scraps of toilet paper in a small trash bin, with a sign toinvite people to take one. Each participant got their own unique idea and wehad great conversations on how technology can help or hurt individuality. |

When we search the Chinese Internet , browsing inthe wife wall , you will often findthat some names are " unable to retrieve " on the grounds that theywere unable to retrieve it relates to political , human rights and othersensitive topics . This " can not be retrieved " state aroused my curiosity, theydo not exist in this society? They are strong enough to breakTHE RULES ? They are our enemy? I think not, they are just ones including the portraits in the ChineseInternet blacklist, we are not enemies to each other, people in reality do notstay in front of social paralysis, it is terrible purely materialistic andconsumer tendencies. So I used many emoji expressionto explain, ‘the portraits forbidden to mention” |
Thanh Le Dang Photography, Tiles 2008-2016,100" x33" Late one morning,Thanh explores her physical genetic makeup using a red highlighterpen. Starting with the corners of her eyes, she outlines herphysical features from her nose to her mouth and moving to the finer detailstracing her spots, double chin and even shadingthe gaps between her teeth. The end piece is a blurred redface. Tiles was taken from avideo piece in 2008. Thanh continually challenges the different ways tore-present the image which is essentially reflection of herself which hasalso changed over time. |
Niko de La Faye. Photography, 40x40cm or 60x60cm, VISAGES,2009
De La Faye is not abeliever of the idea of model casting; instead, all models were volunteers thathe has met in life personally. The mesmerizing shapes and colors on hisartworks together with the existing landscapes of the human faces have resultedin a fascinating series, symbolizing encounters with people. At the exhibitionpresented at Mur Nomade, Niko de La Faye will interact with the visitorsthrough an audio recording on iPod, amplifying the presence of the models as ifthey came to life through de La Faye’s photographs. Through the voice and wordsfrom the artist, one artwork following another, the stories behind each paintedface become even stronger, creating a personal connection among the visitors,the artist and the models. Niko de la Faye’sVisages series, as part of the Hong Kong International Photo Festival, offers areflection on the role of the photographer plays in the exercise ofportraiture. A portrait is the representation of the way the artist sees his orher model; with this representation painted directly on the face of the model,instead of being captured through the lens of the camera or depicted on acanvas, the photography comes in as the final layer in the sequence ofrepresentations. Artist’s statement I didn’t need acanvas, and furthermore I was intrigued by the idea of adding shapes and colorsto the existing landscape of the human face. I would also integrate living eyeswithin the canvas. This way I could give an interesting dimension to an imagethat would be a mix between painting and photography. |

The photos of this "exhibition" were then sent back to Beijing, to be installed as an artwork, within the original exhibition that was being duplicated. |

Blocky apartment clusters, busy trafficintersections, and the comings and goings of its 22 million residents arecaptured in images that blur the line between the typical and the surreal.Weber was inspired by the temporal nature of reflections -- fascinated by howglass and water can both distort reality and reveal innate truths. |

I like watching the funny expressions,every change maybe is the start of a story. Whether they are friends, relatives, lovers,colleagues, enemies or strangers, behind every piece of beautiful face there is the full show of a life. There are rational,reasonable, or no sign, all of those are so surprising to me. I love the symbol of your face. Whether you believe or not, that you are one of them. They are all there, never change, never move. When all things are recovered in nature, once again, I remembered more faces and expressions of the people in whom I am interested. I can do whatever I want to paint that is your symbol I cansee. I remember you and the feelings of those moments. If you like, youcan look around the hall of exhibition, to find which one is the most likeyou, find yourself and recognize yourself. Now on display it just isone part of the set works I made, to reach the final goal of 999 pieces,999 face, 999 people have relationship with me or not. The kind of 999 featuresI most familiar, 999 evolution, variation and fantasy. You are the mostperfect. Regardless. Whatever you and me, here or not, and a final one,immortalized forever, no birth and no death, for the life of two, and three,comes all things. Or we once passed without paying attention, or I oncehated you in my heart, or glad that you have been at my side. Maybe I wasimpressed just by little smile. In the universe and avenue, we have the thingsin common, forget, remember, enjoy, hatred. move or not move they are in there,I remember everything, whether you remember either? |
